YORKTOWN, NY – Yorktown Supervisor Candidate Matt Slater and Yorktown Town Clerk Candidate Mary Capoccia are the first candidates in Yorktown to be endorsed by the SAM Party of New York State. The Serve America Movement is a national organization that is focused on supporting candidates who will bring fundamental electoral reforms that will lead to more responsive, more responsible elected leadership. SAM endorsed 103 candidates across New York for this November’s election.
“The SAM Party of New York is wasting no time in taking on New York’s corrupt status quo,” said SAM Party of New York Chair Michael Volpe. “New Yorkers are fleeing the state and it’s not the weather, but a climate of high cost and low-quality services that lead our friends and family members to believe they have greater opportunity someplace else. SAM Candidates will work every day to create a thriving, inclusive economic future for all New Yorkers regardless of where in the State you live.”
SAM Party candidates represent a broad range of ideologies, but they all share a common goal: end divisive partisan politics and put people first. The SAM Party is dedicated to accountability, transparency and responsible collaborative leadership. SAM Party candidates embrace the creation of high-performing innovative government that gets results for residents and puts people before politics.
Yorktown Supervisor Candidate Matt Slater said, “Our campaign has been focused on solutions for the future of Yorktown. The extreme financial stress of living in the highest taxed county in the nation does not discriminate based on party affiliation. Yorktown’s seniors, young families and local businesses are all at their breaking points. We need to breathe confidence back into our community that our best days are ahead of us. I am honored to receive the support of the SAM Party which validates our holistic approach to finding innovative ways to raise up every person who calls Yorktown home.”
Yorktown Town Clerk Candidate Mary Capoccia added, “The SAM Party recognizes our governmental processes are dominated by political preferences. It is time we change that in Yorktown. I am thrilled to be the first Town Clerk candidate endorsed by SAM and will work every single day to ensure genuine transparency and non-partisanship is embraced at Town Hall.”
The SAM Party of NY marks the fifth party endorsement for Slater and Capoccia. Both were formally endorsed by the Republican, Conservative and Independence Parties. In addition, as a true testament to their broad range of support, both won contested write-in primaries in June to secure the Green Party.
